Aparna Keshaviah interrogates tradition in order to elevate "ethnic dance" to art.  She does not conform well to boundaries, equally being a dancer & statistician, Indian & American.

Through hybridity, Aparna seeks to understand how tradition can succeed in modernity, and particularly how a classical Indian dancelike Bharatanatytam can thrive amidst globalization.

STATISTICS

Aparna has worked in clinical research for almost 10 years, focusing on cancer, alternative therapy, and  psychiatry.

In 2006, Aparna was awarded a U.S. Fulbright Grant in Dance to India for a statistical study of Bharatanatyam.
